Debsoc has two much lovedĀ adopted songs, and if you’re keen to get into the spirit of any tournaments or competitions it would definitely pay to come to know them as your own. It won’t hurt – they’re beautiful songs.

Since before I can remember (and that’s not a huge length of time in Debsoc terms but all the same) Victoria by the Dance Exponents has been the traditional Debsoc song. Whether played from a cellphone marching along Christchurch streets at Easters, or requested for the band at Australs 2006 in the Duxton, with Debsocer Amelia Keene drunkenly serenading the crowd, this song is one for the spirits.
And since Thropy 2007 Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart has been a real crowd favourite. This song got everone in the right mood when we were waiting for the Vic vs Auckland final topicĀ to be announced and after that and its fine showing at the end of year party, this song is going to be forever etched into the history of Debsoc. Just you wait.

Check the two songs out below:

Dance Exponents – Victoria

Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart
